Your local collection
Records, custom fields, history and photo copies are stored inside the app on your iPhone. No account is required. The documented build has no analytics, ads, tracking, external dependencies or application server. We do not receive your collection content.
Photos and permissions
The iOS photo picker lets you choose specific images without granting access to your entire photo library. Copies are resized and re-encoded as JPEGs, removing the original EXIF metadata. Original photos are not modified or uploaded to an OrchidFields server. The app does not request GPS or microphone access.
Backups and exports
JSON includes your records, schema, history and photo copies. OrchidFields does not encrypt exported files. Anyone who can access a file can read it. You choose the destination in Files, which may be a cloud provider with its own terms. iOS may include app data in device backups according to your settings.
Retention and deletion
The app keeps a previous snapshot, a before-restore copy and unreadable files for recovery. These copies may contain records deleted from the active collection. To remove the entire local collection and its copies, use Delete App in iPhone Storage; Offload App retains data. Manage exported files and device or cloud backups separately.
Purchases through Apple
Collector is an optional one-time purchase handled by Apple. The release candidate requests product information, receives verified StoreKit transactions and checks entitlement on your device. Restoring a purchase uses Apple’s App Store service. OrchidFields does not receive card details, send transactions to a developer server or tie your collection to an app account. Apple applies its own privacy practices. Reading, exporting, deleting plants and restoring collection backups remain independent of payment. No analytics or advertising is added. Public store availability is still pending.
